Interprofessional Education (IPE) Facilitator Orientation

This course prepares participants to facilitate effective interprofessional education in rural healthcare settings. Participants will explore IPE competencies, virtual communication and debriefing techniques, and the contributions of diverse disciplines to patient-centered care.

Target Audience

This lecture-based presentation is designed for Interprofessional Education (IPE) facilitators.

Objectives

Following this course, participants should be able to:

  1. List the four core competencies of Interprofessional Education (IPE)

  2. Integrate principles of rural interprofessional practice into simulation debriefings by guiding learners to consider social, geographic, resource, and systems-based factors that impact patient-centered care.

  3. Identify appropriate virtual communication methods for facilitating a small interprofessional group

  4. Apply appropriate debriefing techniques for both in-person and virtual IPE activities

  5. Articulate key contributions of disciplines outside of one's own profession to support patient-centered care.

Course Credits

Pharmacists

The West Virginia University School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This activity (ACPE UAN 0072-9999-26-048-L04-P) is approved for a total of 1.5 contact hours or 0.15 CEU’s of continuing pharmacy education credit. WVU School of Pharmacy will report your participation in the activity to NABP CPE Monitor within 4-6 weeks for all participants who successfully complete the activity. Successful completion includes attending the entire activity, completing an exam with a pass rate of 70%, and completing an online evaluation form. The West Virginia University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The WVU Office of CME designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
