This program provides evidence-based strategies for diagnosing and managing common and complex internal medicine conditions while improving patient outcomes. Participants will explore best practices in treatment, interdisciplinary care coordination, screening, and safe care transitions.
This conference is named in honor of Anthony G. DiBartolomeo, MD. Dr. DiBartolomeo earned his medical degree fromthe WVU School of Medicine in 1967, completed residency training at the University of Minnesota, and completed a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. A United States Army veteran, Dr. DiBartolomeo served as a rheumatologist for the Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, DC, and then joined WVU as Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Section of Rheumatology. Dr. DiBartolomeo faithfully served the WVU School of Medicine in many roles, and was awarded outstanding teacher and outstanding faculty awards throughout his time with the institution.
Physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and members in the healthcare field interested in up-to-date information in various aspects of inpatient and outpatient adult medicine.
Following this conference, participants should be able to:
Apply evidence-based strategies to improve diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination for their patients
Implement evidence-based clinical strategies to optimize patient care and outcomes in Internal Medicine
Coordinate care and integrate best practices across interdisciplinary teams to improve patient management and outcomes
Apply guideline-directed screening, diagnostic, and treatment strategies for common and complex internal medicine conditions
Differentiate between disease-directed treatment options and palliative-focused care strategies in advanced cancer
Identify appropriate candidates for bariatric endoscopic therapies and compare available procedural options with surgical and medical alternatives
Recognize and differentiate allergic dermatologic conditions and develop initial management and referral plans
Utilize validated tools to assess frailty and incorporate findings into shared decision-making with patients and care teams
Recognize clinical presentations of tick-borne illnesses and initiate appropriate diagnostics and empiric treatment
Identify barriers to safe care transitions in rural populations and apply strategies to reduce readmissions and medication discrepancies
Identify current evidence-based strategies for the diagnosis and management of heart failure, including appropriate use of guideline-directed medical therapy
This conference will cover the following topics: Bariatric Endoscopy; Managing Hypothyroidism in Primary Care; Assessment and Management of Frailty; When to Consider Stopping Cancer Therapies; Tick-Borne Illness; Transitions of Care and Impacts on Rural Healthcare; Lipid Management; Mast Cell Activation Syndrome; Infectious Exposures: Immunizations and Immunoglobulins; Hepatitis C Treatment for the PCP; Heart Failure; and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Important: If you are unable to attend the conference after you have registered, you must notify us in writing by August 28, 2026, to receive a refund. No refunds for conference fees will be made after August 28, 2026. A $25 fee will be charged for all cancelled registrations.
We reserve the right to cancel individual sessions or the entire conference. In the event of a conference cancellation, a full tuition refund will be made.

Participants who also attend the Medicine Grand Rounds portion of the conference will receive 1.0 CME credit or 1.0 Nursing Credits through Medicine Grand Rounds.
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 4.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
